Serbian and Hungarian riverine units conducting joint training

Personnel from the Serbian Armed Forces' River Flotilla and the Hungarian Defence Forces’ 1st EOD Regiment are conducting joint training this week on the Tisa River near Titel, focusing on the execution of specific tasks during operations on inland waterways.
The training, which represents a continuation of the long-standing successful cooperation between the riverine units of the two countries, is being conducted with the aim of exchanging experience regarding the tactics, techniques, and procedures for river traffic protection, enhancing the personnel’s proficiency and readiness to execute joint tasks, and strengthening mutual understanding and trust. Representatives of the Romanian Army are also attending the training this year as observers.

During multi-day river operations, mixed vessel crews are practicing combat actions and procedures for waterway protection, including live-fire engagements against waterborne targets. Fire is delivered from the guns of Serbian Armed Forces multi-purpose river vessels, and results to date demonstrate a high level of proficiency and coordination among the crews in executing their assigned fire missions.
Major General Zoran Nasković, Commander of the Army, today visited the riverine units’ personnel undergoing training. He spoke with the soldiers and officers, expressing his satisfaction with the excellent professional understanding between members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Hungarian Defence Forces, as well as their successful joint execution of all training tasks.

The joint training of Serbian and Hungarian riverine units is one of numerous bilateral military cooperation activities between the two countries, aimed at building concrete capabilities and promoting good-neighbourly relations and regional stability.
