Association of Veterans of Security Authorities and Military Police of Serbia marks its anniversary
A ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of the Association of Veterans of Security Authorities and the Military Police of Serbia was held today at the Guard Club in Topčider.
After the anthem was played and a minute of silence was held for the fallen and deceased veterans, Major General Todor Petković (ret.), Chairman of the Assembly of the Veterans’ Association, addressed those present, presenting the Association’s achievements.- The Association has received numerous commendations and awards from state and other institutions in recognition of its work results to date. It should be noted that the state of Serbia attaches great importance to fostering a culture of remembrance and preserving our traditions through commemorations of important dates in our history and the adoption of the Law on Memorials, alongside numerous other activities, thus contributing to our unity and the preservation of freedom, national pride and the flag - Major General Petković noted.
On this occasion, he presented letters of appreciation to outstanding veterans in recognition of their contribution to the Association’s work. Following this, a promotional film about the Association and its activities was screened.Today’s ceremony was attended by the Head of the Military Police, Major General Milan Lazić, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, the fallen members’ families and numerous distinguished guests.
To mark the occasion, a day earlier, representatives of the Association laid wreaths at the memorial dedicated to the fallen members of the military security agencies and the Military Police, alongside the latters’ family members.
