Minister Gašić attends launch of “U Stroju” documentary series

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended today the launch of a new documentary series dedicated to the military - “U Stroju” (In Formation), held at the Central Military Club in Belgrade.
The promotion was also attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Đuro Macut, members of the Defence Minister’s and the Chief of the General Staff’s advisory boards, along with numerous other guests.

The documentary series dedicated to the defence system, produced by the “Novosti” media company, will be broadcast on Newsmax Balkans.
The head of video production and the online portal at “Novosti”, Andrijana Nešić, emphasised that the series depicts Serbian Armed Forces personnel and their lives, highlighting the hard work, responsibility, discipline and self-sacrifice that their calling requires.
- For us, “U Stroju” is a story of three eras – about a past that we mustn’t forget, about people wearing uniform, and about the Serbian Armed Forces that are growing and modernising. For that reason, we are deeply grateful to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, headed by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, as well as to all the officers and service members who received us and exhibited great patience for our cameras and questions. My special thanks go to the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, who recognised the importance of this project, so we were given the opportunity to turn our idea into the series we are presenting to you today. Thanks to that support, we have filmed footage that we believe will hold historical value one day – said Ms Nešić.
The author of the series, Marija Stevanović, said that the series comprises several thematic segments dealing with history and personal stories of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces, and shared her impressions of the filming.
- I think we have created an amazing gallery of characters that younger generations can look up to and I would love for as many young people and children as possible to watch this series. If I had to pick one takeaway message after watching the series or one of its episodes, it would be the crucial importance of never forgetting who we are – said Ms Stevanović, adding that over several months of shooting, they met many smart, determined young members of the defence system who instil a sense of security.
The head of documentaries at Newsmax Balkans, Petar Jočić, said he was delighted that this TV network would broadcast a series dedicated to the military, highlighting the important role the military had played throughout the history of cinema.

- Documentaries like this help us approach the military from a different angle, allowing us to learn about it through its training, as well as to motivate those wishing to apply for voluntary service and prepare those who will perform military service in the future – Head of Documentaries Jončić said.
The series consists of 26 episodes that present members of the Serbian Armed Forces, units, training, modern armament, military equipment, but also the values that define military calling.
