Šutanovac: Norway supports the reforms in Serbia



Serbian Defence Minister Dragan Šutanovac have said in Oslo today that Norway supports the defence reforms in Serbia and is ready to develop civil-military cooperation and joint participation in peacekeeping missions.

"Norway and Serbia have very good cooperation that is based on the connections between the ministries of defence of the two countries," Šutanovac said after the talks with Norwegian Defence Minister Grete Faremo and stressed that this cooperation is operated by involvement of a Serbian medical team in the Norwegian peace contingent in Chad.

According to Minister Šutanovac, Norway has paid great attention to cooperation with Serbia in defence, and the two countries intend to promote cooperation in the military health care.

"Norway is among the largest donors to the (Serbian) defence system and it helped in a large number of projects of the Serbian Ministry of Defence, worth more than four million euros," Šutanovacsaid and pointed out that Norway donated Serbia a deployable hospital.

Šutanovac and Faremo also discussed about the cooperation in the field of the military industry and energy conservation, where Norway is the world leader.

Tomorrow, during the second day of his visit to Norway, the Serbian Defence Minister will meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonas Gahr Støre, President of the Parliament Marit Nubak, and will give a lecture at the Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs (NUPI).
