Representatives of parliamentary committees visit SAF units in Ground Safety Zone

Members of the Parliamentary Defence and Internal Affairs Committee and the Security Services Control Committee today visited the Merdare Base in the Ground Safety Zone and the Toplički Ustanak Barracks in Kuršumlija.
The delegations, led by MPs Milovan Drecun and Igor Bečić, were welcomed at the Merdare Base by the Army Commander, Major General Zoran Nasković, who briefed them on the SAF personnel’s tasks and the organization of work in the Ground Safety Zone.

During their visit to the base, the delegations had the opportunity to see firsthand the SAF personnel’s equipment, capabilities, and living and working conditions that have been improved significantly. They also viewed modern optronics systems, UAVs, high mobility motor vehicles, protective equipment, and small arms used by soldiers and officers when carrying out their duties in protecting the administrative line with the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija. The introduction of these assets into service has substantially boosted the efficiency and optimised the deployment of forces on the ground in this part of our country.
Next, the delegations visited the Toplički Ustanak Barracks in Kuršumlija, where they laid a wreath at the memorial dedicated to the members of the 354th Infantry Brigade of the Yugoslav Armed Forces, killed during the NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
