Serbian Armed Forces assisting with water supply
To mitigate the effects of a prolonged drought that has caused water shortages, Serbian Armed Forces personnel have recently been deployed to assist with supplying water to households in the Valjevo and Sjenica regions, at the request of local governments.
The Serbian Armed Forces are deploying tanker trucks to replenish wells and water tanks used by local residents for household needs and livestock in the villages of Dolinje, Dunišiće, Trebine, and Ursule in the Sjenica region, as well as in the village of Babina Luka near Valjevo. SAF personnel are periodically deployed on similar tasks in the villages of Donji Starac and Novo Selo in the municipality of Bujanovac, in the Kruševac village of Veliki Šiljegovac, and the village of Ram near Veliko Gradište.Alongside water supply operations, SAF personnel, equipped with fire engines, engineering machinery, and off-road vehicles, are taking part in firefighting efforts in the Deliblato Sands. Meanwhile, SAF pontoniers are ensuring the safety and maintenance of pontoon bridges across the Velika Morava River near Svilajnac and across the Danube, connecting the Zemun Quay to Great War Island. Military medical teams remain active, working in support of the Ministry of Health to carry out the “Military Doctor in the Village” initiative in remote areas where residents have limited access to the healthcare system.
Through efforts like these, the Serbian Armed Forces demonstrate their commitment to always being at the service of citizens, not only in defending the country, as well as their constant readiness to deploy available personnel and assets wherever and whenever needed.
