Association of Veterans of Security Authorities and Military Police of Serbia organises voluntary blood donation drive
The Association of Veterans of Security Authorities and the Military Police of Serbia has organised a voluntary blood donation drive at the University Clinical Centre of Kragujevac, where about fifty members of the Association donated blood.
The Chairman of the Association’s Executive Board, Blagoje Ljubisavljević, stated that this was the first time they had organised a blood donation drive in Kragujevac. - All those who once served, who fought bravely, along with their descendants, friends, neighbours, and other members of the public who were invited, have answered the call, so we have several dozen people here today. Campaigns like this are particularly important in the summer season. It is always the right time to donate blood, including now – Ljubisavljević said.
Blood was also donated by the citizens of Kragujevac, including Milan Marković, who highlighted that he had donated blood at least 40 times so far.
- I have always answered every call, I like giving blood to help others, whether there’s an urgent need or not. I simply feel the urge to give blood for others. It makes me feel phenomenal and it genuinely does me good. I used to donate blood back when I was working, and I continue to do so now that I am retired. I have always taken part in every drive with enthusiasm and honour, for Serbia and its people – Marković said. Blood donation drives are not the only humanitarian activities organised by this association. They also help build or repair homes, provide financial aid to the families of their fallen colleagues and other members of the Serbian Armed Forces, organise fundraising campaigns, and donate household appliances.
This time, representatives of the association have donated necessary household appliances to the Tomić family. Mr Ljubisavljević stressed that they had carried out numerous similar initiatives so far, and added that the Association would continue with such efforts in the future.
