Specialist training for Army recruits

Soldiers who commenced their voluntary military service in June this year are currently undergoing specialist training, developing the necessary skills required for their assigned branches and services.
This phase follows a six-week basic training phase and is delivered either at specialist training centres or within units of the Serbian Armed Forces, in accordance with each soldier’s military occupational specialty.

Soldiers assigned to infantry, artillery, amour, and engineer branches are undergoing specialist training at the Army Training Centre in Požarevac. Utilizing training areas on the outskirts of Požarevac and specialized labs at the General Pavle Jurišić Šturm Barracks, recruits are training on infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, and artillery systems. They are also being taught to use explosive ordnance and fire support assets.
In the next training phase, recruits will deploy on a stationary field training exercise. Through drills and firing practices, they will gain practical experience in carrying out tactical actions on the battlefield, using their branch-specific weapons and equipment.

Specialist training for this intake concludes in late August with an individual skills assessment, after which soldiers will transition to collective training and subsequently join Serbian Armed Forces units where they will actively engage in day-to-day activities until the end of their military service.
In addition to individual specialist training for voluntary military service recruits, the Army Training Centre delivers instruction for officer cadets and reservists who have not completed military service with weapons. It also provides advanced training for more than 50 specialties within the infantry, artillery, amour, and engineer branches for both regular and reserve personnel, making the facility an important part of the Serbian Armed Force training system.
