Dress rehearsal of new SAF officers’ commissioning ceremony
A dress rehearsal of the upcoming ceremony in which final-year cadets of the Military Academy and the Military Medical Academy’s Faculty of Medicine will be commissioned as new officers of the Serbian Armed Forces was held today at the General Jovan Mišković Barracks in Belgrade, with Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić in attendance.
A total of 130 cadets will be commissioned as second lieutenants of the Serbian Armed Forces - 102 Military Academy cadets (147th class) and 28 cadets of the Military Medical Academy’s Faculty of Medicine (12th class). In addition, two cadets from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are graduating from the Military Academy this year, along with one cadet each from the Serbian Ministry of the Interior and the Angolan Armed Forces. Also graduating from the MMA’s Faculty of Medicine this year are two cadets from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Cadets who have finished the Military Academy at the top of their class are Predrag Đuričić (services), Nemanja Ivanović (Army), and Lazar Đorđević (Air Force and Air Defence), while Jelena Mićić is at the top of her class at the MMA’s Faculty of Medicine.The commissioning ceremony will be held at the General Jovan Mišković Barracks in Banjica on Saturday, July 25, beginning at 10 a.m.
By formally joining the ranks of officers, the new generation will assume the responsibility to continue the glorious tradition of military profession in Serbia and to contribute with their knowledge, honour, and commitment to the strengthening of the Serbian Armed Forces and the defence of the homeland.
Also attending today’s dress rehearsal were the Rector of the Defence University, Brigadier General Prof. Boban Đorović, Ph.D., the Commandant of the Military Academy, Major General Željko Furundžić, the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Nikola Matović, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Military Medical Academy, Prof. Sonja Marjanović, M.D., Ph.D.
