Spanish Defence Minister lays a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt. Avala



The Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Spain, Margarita Robles Fernández, accompanied by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, Bratislav Gašić, laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt. Avala, paying tribute to members of the armed forces who died preserving and defending peace.

The wreath-laying and commemorative ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as members of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Spain.

Following the ceremony, which included an honour guard of the Serbian Armed Forces and the playing of the national anthems of the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Spain, Minister Robles signed the memorial book.

“With all due respect and pride, we express our condolences. Spain and the Republic of Serbia, together with their fallen heroes, will always work together for peace!”
