Ministry of Defence delegation visits Eurosatory 2026 Defence & Security Exhibition

A delegation from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, led by Acting Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, has visited the Eurosatory 2026 Defence and Security Exhibition in Paris, at the invitation of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.
The exhibition was also attended by expert delegations from the Military Technical Institute and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of numerous companies within the Serbian Defence Industry Group, which presented their products through a joint exhibition at Jugoimport SDPR’s stand, as well as a number of other Serbian companies engaged in the production and trade of armaments and military equipment.

During the defence exhibition, significant contracts were signed with the French companies Dassault Aviation, Dassault Systèmes, and Thales aimed at establishing industrial cooperation with the Serbian defence industry under the programme for the procurement of the Rafale multi-role fighter aircraft. The contracts were signed with the Military Technical Institute and the UTVA Avio-Industrija Pančevo factory. In the coming period, additional contracts are to be signed for the implementation of industrial cooperation projects with Dassault Aviation and its partners. These agreements will contribute to the further development of the Serbian defence industrial base and the strengthening of cooperation with the French Republic. This model of cooperation aimed at enhancing the technological capabilities of the domestic defence industry has become standard practice, involving the procurement of modern complex combat systems from the world’s most technologically advanced manufacturers.

The visit to the defence exhibition also provided an opportunity for our delegation to meet with officials from partner countries with which Serbia and the Ministry of Defence maintain close bilateral relations. Meetings were held with the Minister of Defence of Cyprus, representatives of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the French National Armaments Director. The meetings focused on current models of cooperation, as well as potential new ones, and other topics.

During the meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Cyprus, led by Minister Vasilis Palmas, the current military-technical cooperation was reviewed. On that occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Jugoimport SDPR and the Cypriot company Cellock, expanding existing cooperation to include the joint development and production of modern combat systems. The memorandum was signed in the presence of officials from the Armaments and Defence Capabilities Development Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Cyprus.

A series of expert meetings was also held with representatives of leading French, European, and global defence companies. The discussions focused on current and future cooperation projects in the fields of research, development, and production of armaments and military equipment, aimed at modernizing the Serbian Armed Forces with state-of-the-art military equipment.
Meetings were also held with the managements of Airbus, Safran, Thales, MBDA, DASSO, and Elbit, companies with which the Republic of Serbia has significant contracts related to the equipping and modernization of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as with EDGE and KNDS, with which the Serbian defence industry has contracts for the export of domestically manufactured products and components. These companies have a high regard for both the current achievements and the vision for the future development of weapons systems of the Serbian military industrial complex, with particular emphasis on achieving a balance between highly sophisticated technological solutions and simple, cost-effective, and mass-produced offensive and defensive systems, in order to respond to the challenges of modern warfare in the most economical way. In this regard, the companies expressed readiness to enter a new phase of cooperation with Serbia’s defence ministry and industry, through joint projects for the development and production of armaments. A number of activities were agreed for the current year, which are expected to result in new projects aimed at further enhancing the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces and strengthening the national defence industrial base.

Numerous Serbian companies regularly participate in the exhibition, where Jugoimport SDPR, as their integrator and a recognized exhibitor, presents the latest achievements and new products of the Serbian defence industry, recognized by eminent experts and partners worldwide. Representatives of the defence industry companies Zastava Oružje, Krušik, Sloboda, Teleoptik-Žiroskopi, Trajal, and Ei-OPEK were also present at the Jugoimport SDPR exhibition stand.

This year, as in previous exhibitions, the Serbian defence industry stand attracted significant interest from visitors and numerous officials. During the exhibition, new contracts were signed and numerous industrial and commercial cooperation activities were agreed for the forthcoming period. International partners expressed particular interest in drones, new types of ammunition and their components offered by Serbian manufacturers.

Eurosatory 2026 was officially opened by French Defence Minister Catherine Vautrin. The exhibition brought together more than 2,600 exhibitors from 68 countries and attracted over 80,000 visitors, placing it among the world’s largest and most significant defence and security exhibitions of its kind. This year’s event showcased new solutions in the fields of unmanned aerial vehicles, multi-layered and hybrid counter-drone defence systems, electronic warfare and countermeasure systems, as well as new unmanned and robotic platforms.
