Ministers Gašić, Mesarović meet with citizens to discuss employment opportunities within defence system
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović spoke with citizens today as part of the Serbian Armed Forces Information Day held in Zrenjanin, where employment opportunities within the defence system were presented, along with the requirements for employment with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
During the event, Minister Gašić said that the state remains committed to promoting employment opportunities within one of the country’s largest and most secure systems and noted that, through the joint activities of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Economy, and the National Employment Service, citizens are being introduced to employment opportunities in the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence.He also pointed out that the Serbian Armed Forces are carrying out intensive preparations for the reintroduction of mandatory military service, which will create a demand for personnel across a variety of roles, from professional soldiers to civilian roles. The armed forces need drivers, electricians, mechanics, tailors, boiler operators, and other professionals, he said, adding that candidates will be provided with additional training for jobs that require specific certifications.
Speaking about working conditions, Minister Gašić said that salaries and benefits in the Serbian Armed Forces are much higher now, that employees enjoy additional rights, and that amendments to the Law on the Serbian Armed Forces adopted in December last year enable professional soldiers to be granted permanent employment status after completing at least three years of continuous service.
The Minister of Defence also presented employment opportunities in local recruitment offices, particularly in positions related to military records keeping. He stressed that the Serbian Armed Forces offer challenging and promising careers to young people, particularly in special operations, tank, and reconnaissance units, along with competitive salaries. He further noted the growing demand for qualified and highly educated professionals in military healthcare and the defence industry.Addressing those present, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović said that Information Days are regularly organized by the Ministry of Economy and the National Employment Service, with this event being held at the initiative of the Ministry of Defence. The purpose of this event, she underlined, is to promote the largest and most secure employer in the Republic of Serbia - the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, where a range of positions are available for both civilian and military personnel. Minister Mesarović further noted that the idea is to ensure that citizens across Serbia are informed about employment opportunities in their own towns or nearby areas, enabling them to find work and receive adequate income.
The Director of the Employment Support Sector at the National Employment Service, Neda Milanović, stressed that the National Employment Service plays an important role in informing and connecting potential candidates with employment opportunities in the Serbian Armed Forces, particularly young people at the beginning of their professional careers.
Deputy Mayor of Zrenjanin Saša Santovac expressed his gratitude to the organizers for choosing to present employment opportunities within the Serbian Armed Forces in Zrenjanin, describing the event as a good opportunity for citizens to find out more about available job opening firsthand.
