President Vučić meets with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence

The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, met today in Belgrade with Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić also attended the meeting.

On that occasion, President Vučić said that the meeting with Minister Hasanov had been cordial and meaningful, and had provided an opportunity to further concretize the agreements reached during his most recent visit to Baku and talks with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
He noted that the meeting included an exchange of views on the increasingly complex security situation in the region and around the world, as well as on the position and role of the two countries in the new geopolitical architecture.

- We devoted particular attention to military-technical cooperation between the two countries, as well as to concrete projects in the field defence industry. I emphasized that Serbia now possesses the knowledge, experience, and capabilities to develop and produce modern weapons systems and military equipment, and that our goal is to further strengthen the domestic defence industry and increase its position on the international market through partnerships with friendly countries. We reaffirmed that the relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan are based on mutual trust, respect, and sincere friendship, which is why I am confident that defence cooperation will continue to develop to the mutual benefit of both states and their citizens – President Vučić stated, thanking Colonel General Hasanov for the open and constructive talks, and expressing confidence that the results of today’s discussions would soon be translated into concrete projects.
