New issue of Odbrana magazine released

The June issue of Odbrana magazine features a series of articles on current, interesting defence system stories.
Our reporters and photo-journalists have covered two significant multinational exercises: the NATO-Serbia multinational tactical exercise, conducted at Base South and at the Borovac training area near Bujanovac, and the Cross Landing 2026 bilateral exercise, aimed at strengthening the air forces of Serbia and Hungary. The latter was conducted at the Bikovo sports airfield near Subotica and at the Aerodrom barracks in Sombor.

The content of this issue’s System section is very rich. We followed the competition of Military Police and reconnaissance units’ personnel, the training conducted by the 101st Fighter Squadron, the combat training in providing artillery fire support, conducted at the Pasuljanske Livade military complex, as well as a mobile field training of Signal Brigade units.

We were also present at career guidance fairs held in Niš, Belgrade, and Smederevo, where the public had the chance to learn first-hand about opportunities for employment and professional development within the defence system.

The Healthcare section presents the work of surgical clinics at the Military Medical Academy. Colonel Prof. Nebojša Marić, M.D.-Ph.D., head of the MMA Group of Surgical Clinics, speaks about being a surgeon, their everyday challenges, and the future of surgery.

We recall the Serbian-Ottoman wars fought between 1876 and 1878, which brought independence to the Principality of Serbia and significantly expanded its territory. After the liberation and integration of new areas, the Niš, Pirot, Vranje, and Toplica counties were formed.

In the new issue, find out how members of the Association of Veterans of Security Authorities and Military Police of Serbia commemorated their anniversary on May 13. In the Culture section, we highlight the story about members of the Stanislav Binički Art Ensemble and what they think about after a concert, when the stage lights are turned off and the audience’s applause stops.
