Strengthening of 63rd Parachute Brigade’s capabilities continues unabated
The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, visited today the Sergeant-Pilot Mihajlo Petrović military airfield in Niš, where he observed the training conducted by the personnel of the 63rd Parachute Brigade.
During the visit, he was introduced to the new parachute system currently in service with the unit, the U.S.-made RA-1 parachute, one of the most modern and versatile parachutes in the world. It is designed for the execution of operational and tactical missions, as well as for the execution of training jumps and jumps with additional loads.General Mojsilović then observed airborne training activities, including an assault on a seized building, jumps from an H-145 helicopter using the new parachute system, with full gear and armament. Following this, he held a working meeting, during which he briefed the unit’s senior command staff on the upcoming priority tasks and gave them instructions for the period ahead.
Concluding his tour, the Chief of the General Staff expressed his satisfaction with the condition of the unit, the outstanding level of readiness of its soldiers and officers, the significant improvement in capabilities, and the noticeable progress across all segments of its work and daily functioning. He stressed that, as part of the ongoing modernization and transformation of the Serbian Armed Forces, efforts to strengthen the capabilities of the 63rd Parachute Bridge and other special operations units will continue unabated – through the procurement of first-class weaponry and military equipment, the improvement of training, living, and working conditions, and an increase in troop numbers.Speaking from the Niš military airfield, General Mojsilović urged all young men and women who aspire to become military paratroopers in this unit, to apply for the recruitment competition that will remain open until June 1, regardless of whether they have completed military service with weapons or not.
A competition will also be announced for the 72nd Special Operations Brigade. Eligible candidates for these two special operations units must be citizens of the Republic of Serbia who have completed secondary level education and meet all other competition requirements. Candidates will undergo medical examinations, psychological assessment, physical fitness test, and security clearance procedure, followed by selective training.
