4th CISM Balkan Mountain Running Championship officially opened



The fourth CISM Balkan Mountain Running Championship was officially opened today in Vrdnik, Fruška Gora, with a ceremonial parade of 70 competitors from Serbia and abroad.
The opening ceremony was attended by Acting Assistant for Human Resources Siniša Radović, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, officials from sports and other institutions, as well as sports enthusiasts.

The military sports event has brought together teams from the armed forces of nine countries. Alongside Serbian athletes, the championship includes competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Türkiye, and Montenegro.
The opening ceremony is being held in Vrdnik for the second consecutive year. Here, the women’s 5.8 km race will start tomorrow at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s race, where participants will compete over an 8.7 km mountain course.

Adding to the atmosphere, a 500 m exhibition race will be held for delegation leaders and coaches.
The event, held as part of the Balkan Military Games initiative, is being organized on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces by the Defence University, the Military Academy, and the Serbian Delegation to CISM, with the support of the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth of Vojvodina, and other public institutions, organisations, and companies.
