Cadets of the Military Academy in the Czech Republic



Male and female cadets of the Military Academy have been in visit to the Czech Republic since 10 October. The Czech Republic is a two-year NATO contact point for Serbia. At the beginning of the six-day visit to the Czech Army, during the tour of the Training Centre of the Military Academy in Vyškov, the future Serbian Army officers were briefed on the military education system in the Czech Republic and the ways of educating young men and women who have chosen the military profession.

Cadets also visited the Institute for Education of officers, NCOs and soldiers, both professionals and members of active reserve, where more than 1000 students of basic and specialized courses of different levels and specialties are trained.

Cadets of the second and the third year of the Military Academy visited also 102nd Cavalry battalion in Prostiov, near Vyškov, a special unit that is directly subordinated to the Czech state and military leadership. The battalion chief of staff briefed them on the history of the unit and the experience gained in Afghanistan and in Kosovo and Metohija.

During the three-day stay in Brno, which is one of the youngest university centres in Europe, where, students from many European countries are educate on numerous faculties, the male and female cadets of the SAF Military Academy visited the University of Defence of the Czech Ministry of Defence, a part of which is the Military Academy.

In addition to basic and postgraduate studies in the field of military technique and technology, medical, engineering, aviation, IT and other sciences and scientific fields, the Defence University offers the highest, PhD degrees and courses for senior officers and generals. At the University of Defence in Brno, members of civil organizations in the field of security and defence system are also trained.

During their stay in Brno, male and female cadets from Serbia had opportunity to visit the tomb of the founder of the Military Academy, the highest military educational institution in Serbia, the Czech Frantisek, Franjo Zah, who received the rank of General because of his great and persistent educational and soldierly work in Serbia. After laying flowers at the grave of the founder of the Serbian military educational system, the head of the cadet group in visit to the Czech Republic, Captain Dejan Mihajlovic said a few appropriate words on the role of Franjo Zah in Serbia of the 19th century and its Army.

After leaving Brno, on their way to Prague, where they are going to spend the second part of their visit to the Czech Republic, the cadets visited the 31st Brigade for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence (CBRN defence) in Liberec. Chief of Staff of the Brigade briefed the cadets from Serbia on the method of qualification, theoretical and practical training of members of the unit which has very good cooperation with the civilian authorities.
