Minister Gašić observes military police and reconnaissance units’ competition
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended today the third stage of the annual competition of military police and reconnaissance units of the Serbian Armed Forces at the Beranovac military training area near Kraljevo.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gašić stressed that competitions like this are of particular significance, as they represent not only a test of physical and mental ability and endurance of MP and reconnaissance personnel, but also a confirmation of the values that define them – discipline, sense of responsibility, team spirit, and self-sacrifice.- Watching you overcome obstacles, shoot, and run with skilful precision and ease, one might think that such activities are indeed easy and that some people are simply born with such abilities. Yet the path that brought you here was anything but easy. To become a member of a special-purpose unit, each of you had to demonstrate exceptional physical capability, remarkable mental toughness, and strength of character. And you, who over these past several days have competed against one another in speed, strength, and skill, were selected because you are the best among the best. Every service member entrusted with the honour of representing his unit at this year’s competition has earned admiration, respect, and recognition – the Minister of Defence said.
He said that the competition is both demanding and challenging, with every obstacle and task designed to test not only the competitors’ level of training and readiness, but also the mutual trust built over years of hard work, sacrifice, and continuous training.Noting that the competition traditionally brings together members of the military police and reconnaissance units of the Serbian Armed Forces and personnel from the Ministry of the Interior, Minister Bratislav Gašić also welcomed the competitors from Republika Srpska, who are taking part in the competition for the first time this year.
- What matters more than the results of this tournament is the fact that you have gathered together here, in the ancient and proud city of Kraljevo. The square at the heart of the city is dedicated to Serbian warriors, and the monument located in it, the famous “Milutin”, preserves the memory of those who laid down their lives for Serbia’s freedom in the Balkan Wars and the First World War. That is why we must never forget that honour, responsibility, and service to the homeland are the values upon which the Serbian Armed Forces and our state rest – said the Minister of Defence.Minister Gašić told the competitors that the trust placed in them by the citizens of Serbia has not been earned by chance. It is the result of their work, professionalism, and the outstanding results they achieve every day by carrying out the most responsible tasks.
- On Friday, we will find out which team earns this year’s champion title. Although victory is the most important goal for all competitors, I want you to know that every participant in this competition deserves nothing but praise - the Minister of Defence said, wishing all competitors good health and soldier’s good fortune.Today’s event was also attended by the Head of the Training and Doctrine Department of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Brigadier General Siniša Stašević, the Commander of the Second Army Brigade, Brigadier General Nebojša Nedeljković, the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Nikola Matović, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the competition, Colonel Borko Luković.
Fourteen teams from the Serbian Armed Forces, two teams from the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia, and two teams from the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska took part in the third stage of this year’s competition, competing on a patrol course in two phases – on foot and motorized.
This year’s competition of military police and reconnaissance units of the Serbian Armed Forces ends on Friday, when the winners will be announced.
