Minister meets with US Secretary of State



Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac and the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met this evening at the Palace Serbia.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the achieved level of bilateral military cooperation so far, as the best of the overall US-Serbian bilateral cooperation.

Furthermore, both sides agreed on the need to continue cooperation in such important fields as the military education, and the State Partnership Program.

Minister Sutanovac acquainted Secretary Clinton with the level of reforms in the defense system carried out so far, while stressing that the priorities in the future period are the completion of professionalization, modernization of the army as well as more intensive participation of the army in mutltinational peace operations.

He also stressed that the Serbian army and the Ministry of Defense take part in all regional initiatives thus giving contribution to the building of peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

US Secretary Clinton emphasized her satisfaction with the level of cooperation of the Serbian army with the Ohio National Guard, while confirming US support to the Serbian defense system in its reforms to attain the best military standards. She also gave her support to Serbia on its path to the EU.
