Meeting with KFOR Commander
The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, met with the KFOR Commander, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, in Belgrade today.
During the regular high-level meeting, held as part of a broader programme of activities aimed at preserving security in Kosovo and Metohija and maintaining regional stability, the participants discussed the security situation on the ground and the activities that are being undertaken by the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR.Noting that the situation in the Province remains sensitive and fragile, they stressed that the international security presence must remain vigilant and prepared to respond rapidly. They also highlighted that regular and open communication at all levels remains essential for monitoring the situation on the ground and preventing and de-escalating crises.
General Mojsilović said that the unilateral actions by the provisional Priština institutions, including efforts to join military alliances and transform the so-called Kosovo Security Force into a regular army – have a negative impact on regional security. He also emphasized that the Republic of Serbia regards KFOR as the sole legitimate armed formation in Kosovo and Metohija, responsible for ensuring a safe environment for all communities in the Province, and for protecting Serbian citizens, as the most vulnerable segment of the population.
