Artillery units conduct tactical drills
As part of Serbian Armed Forces artillery units’ intensive training cycle, tactical and live fire drills were conducted at the Pasuljanske Livade Training Ground, involving battalions from Army brigades.
The purpose of the training activities was to maintain and improve the skills of professional personnel, as well as to enhance the units’ readiness to provide fire support to SAF evolution units in operations. Modernized 122 mm self-propelled howitzers and 152 mm towed gun-howitzers engaged targets at various distances.Simulating real combat scenarios, artillery batteries practised movement to and occupation of a firing position and an observation post, preparation and execution of artillery firing, as well as displacement, while using camouflage and other measures to protect the positions from aerial observation.
The exercise tested the personnel’s knowledge of the rules of engagement of artillery weapons and systems, as well as the principles of engagement of artillery units on the modern battlefield. The results showed a high level of proficiency of professional personnel and units in executing specific tasks.Continuous training, tactical drills, exercises, and live fire drills are crucial both for maintaining a high level of proficiency of artillery crews and the overall ability of units to provide reliable, precise and powerful fire support. That is why training is a priority task, carried out continuously throughout the year.
