Safest Military Driver Awards

The traditional MOD and SAF Safest Driver Awards were presented today at the Guard Club in Topčider, following a regular meeting of the Council for the Safety of Military Traffic Participants.
In the non-commissioned officer category, the 2025 Safest Driver Award  went to Sergeant Major Vladimir Kuzmanović from the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment “Kobre”. In the professional soldier category, the award went to Corporal Igor Živković from the Niš Military Hospital, while in the civilian category, the same award went to Miloš Vranić from the 608th Logistics Base. A total of 38 drivers units and institutions within the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces were shortlisted for the 2025 Safest Driver Award.

The awards were presented by the Head of the Logistics Department (J-4) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Major General Saša Petrović, who is also Deputy Chair of the Council for the Safety of Military Traffic Participants.
At the Council meeting, the state of road safety in 2025 was reviewed, with particular focus on the effects of the Republic of Serbia’s Road Safety Strategy for 2023-2030, as well on the progress and goals achieved under the Safety Strategy for Military Personnel Participating in Road Traffic for 2022-2026. Conclusions and further measures for the improvement of road safety for military drivers were adopted.

One of the award recipients, tow truck driver Miloš Vranić, started his military career as a professional soldier in 1992, and has been employed as a civilian since 1995.
— Last year, I covered just over 120,000 adjusted kilometres, which is the highest total distance travelled within the armed forces in 2025. This is the first time I have received this award and it will motivate me to pay even greater attention to road safety in my future work - emphasized the recipient of the award that has been presented annually since 2004.

The Council for the Safety of Military Traffic Participants is an expert body whose main responsibility is to improve the safety of military drivers. In addition to the officers who hold the most senior positions within the SAF Transportation Service, other Council members include representatives of the Traffic Safety Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering of the University of Belgrade, and the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad.
