Remembrance Day for Victims of NATO Aggression



On the occasion of Remembrance Day for the Victims of NATO Aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia - a day honouring innocent victims and keeping alive the memory of one of the most challenging periods in modern Serbian history, commands, units, and institutions of the Serbian Armed Forces held commemorative events and religious services in remembrance of fallen members of the Armed Forces.
The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, attended the Remembrance Day ceremony held in Surdulica. Accompanied by the Army Commander, Major General Zoran Nasković, and the Commander of the 4th Army Brigade, Brigadier General Grujica Vuković, General Mojsilović laid a wreath at the Monument to the Victims of NATO Aggression located in the Town Park.

In Surdulica, wreaths were also laid by Minister Novica Tončev, a delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces headed by Brigadier General Slađan Hristov, Head of the Human Resources Department (J-1, General Staff), the President of the Municipality of Surdulica, Dr. Aleksandra Popović, representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, members of veterans’ associations, and heads of local public and educational institutions.

The Chief of the General Staff will attend the central state ceremony honouring the victims of NATO aggression this evening in Vranje, together with members of his collegium. The event will also be attended by the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, other senior officials, and numerous citizens.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces rendered military honours and laid wreaths in other garrisons and garrison towns, at commemorative events organized by various cities and municipalities, veterans’ associations, and other organizations dedicated to nurturing military traditions.
