Promotion ceremony for new SAF non-commissioned officers

A military ceremony marking the induction of the Basic NCO Course participants (27th Class) into professional NCO Corps was held today at the Guard Club in Belgrade.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, members of the Chief of the General Staff’s collegium, representatives from Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces units, as well as families and friends of the new non-commissioned officers.

General Janković congratulated the newly inducted sergeants on their promotion to their first non-commissioned officer rank and wished them success in fulfilling their professional and personal ambitions within the Serbian Armed Forces, thereby ensuring a secure livelihood to their families.
— Through your dedication, expertise, and professionalism, and, above all, by setting a personal example, make sure that ever assigned task is carried out responsibly, fully, and safely. This can only be achieved if you continue to develop yourselves and pass on your knowledge to soldiers and younger colleagues – said the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, noting that upon joining Serbian Armed Forces units, the youngest NCOs will be working with cutting-edge equipment, weapons, and military systems.

General Janković presented the top of the class sergeants, Dejan Medić, Vladimir Agatonović, and Andrija Kostić, with a gold-plated, silver-plated, and standard NCO sabres, respectively.

Top of the class, Sergeant Dejan Medić, said that the young men and women promoted today to their first NCO rank now step forward with greater confidence on their military career path.
— Each of us has had moments of self-doubt, but it was that struggle that taught us to take a step forward when it is hardest. We have learned that a soldier is not someone who never falls, but someone who always gets back up, that true strength comes from character, and that honour is shown through actions, not words – said Sergeant Medić.

The Basic NCО Course lasts six months and is attended by selected soldiers who have completed the Leadership Course and earned the chance to become non-commissioned officers through hard work and dedication shown while serving in their units. During their six-month training, the course participants were trained to lead squads, teams, and sections, gained practical experience in primary NCO duties, and learned about the tasks, responsibilities, and work organization in their units. They are now fully prepared to take on the challenges of their new roles as non-commissioned officers of the Serbian Armed Forces.
