Training for working dogs in Serbian Armed Forces units

At the Dog Training Centre in Niš, handlers are receiving dog handler training, while working dogs of various specializations are undergoing training and retraining in preparation for their duties within the Serbian Armed Forces units.
The programme includes both basic and specialized training, preparing handlers and dogs to perform their duties in accordance with each dog’s natural affinities and abilities. Currently, the Centre is training dogs to provide protection and security to Serbian Armed Forces facilities and vehicles, and retraining dogs for terrain search and explosive detection operations.

The dogs are practising attack and defence, overcoming natural and artificial obstacles, conducting counter-sabotage inspections, carrying out raids on buildings and vehicles, and neutralizing enemies. With their exceptional senses and fast reactions, working dogs are invaluable assistants to the personnel of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The Dog Training Centre, a unit of the Training Command, is dedicated to training, veterinary care, breeding, and reproduction of working dogs. It also provides training and professional development for veterinary service personnel. The quality of the Centre’s training and the exceptional genetic potential of the dogs it breeds and trains are demonstrated by numerous awards and outstanding performances at both international and domestic canine competitions.
