The Day of the Academy for Crime Studies marked



At the graduation ceremony of students who have graduated from the Police Academy and obtained a BA in criminology, the ministers of police, education and defense Ivica Dacic, Zarko Dragan Obradovic and defense minister Dragan Sutanovac congratulated them on their successful completion of their education, their commitment to a police call, and on ensuring the safety of citizens and government.

Police work is something more than a profession and the Ministry of Internal Affairs pays special attention to the education of staff, Dacic said at a ceremony at the National Assembly.

The Police Minister stressed that a highly-trained staff with all the necessary technical and technological support are a prerequisite for effective policing.

According to him, the scope of police work is extremely wide, with continuous action and cooperation with other factors of the security sector for peace and security of citizens and state.

Dacic called on the graduates of the Police Academy to continue to be guided the standards of the profession with respect to ethical and moral standards, and to continue to contribute to building a European, democratic Serbia, and ensure the safety of citizens and the state.

The Minister wished them to do the best they can in the interest of nation and state, noting that the state should have a certain attitude toward them.

"Without a stable military, police and judiciary, Serbia cannot be stable with a safe future," said the SPS.

Sutanovac stressed that the military and the police callings are both very honorable professions, congratulating the graduates Criminal Police Academy on having chosen to be police officers.

He stressed that the work ahead of them is full of temptations, recalling that many police officers lost their lives in performing their duties.

Sutanovac said that in the 21 century, terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking and corruption are major challenges to global and regional level.

Furthermore, in his address, he remarked that police and army have to jointly counter these challenges and ensure the safety and security, not only of Serbia and its citizens, but also the entire region and beyond.

The Minister also recalled the great contribution MoD has given to the Interior Ministry in the previous period in Serbia's path to European integrations, adding that their task in the future in this field would be even more important.

Zarko Obradovic, the Minister of Education stressed the key requirements for an overall development and European integration of Serbia as well as countering crime and corruption are increasing the number of university educated people.
This means having a higher number of skilled and trained professionals in all areas of society, including the crime police and security as this is necessary to achieve these goals, and there is a general consensus with respect to this, Obradovic said.

According to him, today’s civilization and the challenges of the times we live in demand that professionals be educated at university level

Obradovic said that in achieving this the Criminal Police Academy has a very important role which implements top scientific achievements and modern methods of educating in order to educate highly qualified personnel.

The ceremony, along with numerous relatives and friends of graduates, was also attended by Chief of SAF LTG Miloje Miletic, the Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Konuzin, the representatives of embassies in USA and Germany, numerous ministers and representatives of the judiciary and security services.

The Criminal Police Academy was established by the Government of Serbia on 27 July 2006, as an independent institution of higher education to achieve academic and vocational study programs for all levels of police training.

Criminal Police Academy was created by the integration of the Police College and Police Academy and is a legal successor.
