Gun salutes to mark Serbia’s Statehood Day
By order of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard performed a gun salute from the Sava Plateau in Belgrade’s Kalemegdan Park to mark February 15 - Statehood Day.
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended the 10-round gun salute fired from six artillery pieces.
Serbia is celebrating Sretenje (Candlemas) – Statehood Day in commemoration of February 15, 1804, when the First Serbian Uprising was launched under the leadership of Karađorđe, and February 15, 1835, when the Sretenje Constitution, the first modern Serbian constitution, was adopted.
