Minister Gašić meets with Ambassador of Uzbekistan
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Serbia, H.E. Aybek Shakhavdinov.
During the meeting, Minister Gašić noted that the overall relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Uzbekistan are good and friendly, providing a solid base for developing cooperation in the field of defence, as well as in other areas of mutual interest.Minister Gašić recalled that during the first official visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Uzbekistan, in October of last year, both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas.
He thanked the Uzbek side for their principled support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in numerous international organisations regarding the issue of the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Minister of Defence underlined Serbia’s long-term commitment to neutrality and non-participation in any existing military-political alliances, while continuing to strengthen cooperation with all relevant international actors, particularly in the areas of security and defence.During the meeting, both sides agreed that there is a shared interest in further developing bilateral cooperation and deepening dialogue.
Ambassador Shakhavdinov expressed his gratitude to Minister Gašić for the reception and the opportunity to confer, emphasizing the Uzbek side’s commitment to further advancing constructive dialogue and strengthening bilateral relations.
