15th class commences Advanced Security and Defence Studies
A ceremony marking the commencement of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies for the 15th class that will be attending the programme was held today at the “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” National Defence School in Belgrade.
On that occasion, the Rector of the Defence University, Brigadier General Boban Đorović, addressed those present saying that the Defence University strives to keep pace with the world’s best military higher education institutions and to develop a range of activities aimed at enhancing the quality of its academic programmes, improving the management of research activities, and intensifying international military cooperation.
- To ensure that your future strategic thinking and anticipatory skills are reinforced with solid and up-to-date knowledge, we have recruited leading experts in military, political, and security studies from across the Republic of Serbia, brought in diplomats and officers from foreign armed forces, and organized study visits both in Serbia and abroad, Rector Đorović said. He added that this programme, unique in Serbia, is designed for professionals from different sectors to get to know one another better, examine shared challenges from different perspectives, and develop a unified strategic outlook on key issues and challenges.The Head of the National Defence School, Colonel Zoran Jekić, noted that over the past fourteen years, around 220 participants have completed the Advanced Security and Defence Studies, and that the programme has gained recognition not only within Serbia’s security and defence system, but also across the region and internationally.
- By selecting you to attend the Advanced Security and Defence Studies, your superiors are sending you a message - they count on you, they respect your work and achievements, and they believe that you can become strategic-level leaders, capable of making the most difficult decisions and qualified to manage the national security and defence system in protecting the vital interests and values of the countries you come from - Colonel Jekić said, congratulating the participants on the commencement of their training.The 15th class includes members of the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of the National Assembly, the Government, government ministries, the Security and Information Agency, state institutions, as well as representatives from the Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska and members of the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Namibia.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić, Head of the Training and Doctrine Department (J-7) of the General Staff, Brigadier General Siniša Stašević, and members of the Defence University and the National Defence School.
