Death anniversaries of Field Marshal Živojin Mišić, Field Marshal Petar Bojović, Army General Pavle Jurišić Šturm commemorated
To mark the anniversaries of the deaths of Field Marshal Živojin Mišić, Field Marshal Petar Bojović, and Army General Pavle Jurišić Šturm, a delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by Brigadier General Nebojša Cvetković, laid wreaths and paid homage to them at the New Cemetery complex in Belgrade.
The state ceremony commemorating the 105th anniversary of the death of Field Marshal Mišić, the 81st anniversary of the death of Field Marshal Bojović, and the 104th anniversary of the death of Army General Jurišić Šturm was led by Zoran Antić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs.Wreaths were also laid by representatives of the City of Belgrade, the Association for Preserving the Traditions of the Serbian Liberation Wars, veterans’ organizations, and foreign embassies in the Republic of Serbia, as well as defence attachés.
Field marshals Živojin Mišić and Petar Bojović and General Pavle Jurišić Šturm took part in the Serbian-Turkish Wars (1876-1878), the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885, the Balkan Wars, and the First World War. All three men died in Belgrade, Field Marshal Živojin Mišić on January 20, 1921, Field Marshal Petar Bojović on January 19, 1945, and Army General Pavle Jurišić Šturm on January 14, 1922.
