Training Command Day
A military ceremony to mark Training Command Day, commemorating January 15, 1883, when the Law on the Organization of the Army was passed in 1883, was held today at the Topčider Barracks in Belgrade.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, members of the collegium of the Minister of Defence and the extended collegium of the Chief of the General Staff, representatives of national and local government bodies, public and private companies and numerous guests.In his address, Commander of the Training Command, Brigadier General Dragiša Zlatković, emphasized that the Training Command trains all categories of personnel and serves as a bridge connecting the two service branches of the Serbian Armed Forces.
— Our capabilities have been thoroughly tested over the past year through a wide range of activities, including individual training for different categories of personnel, mastering the use of newly introduced and received equipment and weapons, induction of new non-commissioned officers, execution of 75 national exercises and almost 800 firing practices with both individual and collective weapons, as well as participation in multinational operations in Lebanon and in activities as part of the Serbian Armed Forces’ third mission. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff for their support, as well as to government authorities, the Serbian Orthodox Church and other religious communities, public and private companies and numerous associations for their exceptional cooperation — said General Zlatković. The celebration of the Training Command Day was enhanced by the performance of “Stanislav Binički”, the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence.
The Training Command is an operational unit of the Serbian Armed Forces responsible for the individual training of all personnel categories and for the development of the Territorial Forces. The Training Command’s headquarters is in Belgrade, whereas its training centres and territorial brigades are located in garrisons and garrison towns spanning from Sombor to Leskovac.
