Members of Serbian Armed Forces take part in New Year’s gift-giving campaign

Ahead of the New Year, members of the Serbian Armed Forces have once again, in keeping with their tradition, organized gift-giving events for children and young people with developmental disabilities, as well as for children who will be spending the upcoming holidays in healthcare and social welfare institutions.
At the Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović military airfield in Batajnica, the gifts were presented by Santa Claus, who arrived at the airfield apron accompanied by Good Fairies aboard an An-26 transport aircraft from the 138th Transport Squadron.

Children and young people supported by the Belgrade-based Živimo Zajedno (Living Together) Association that provides assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and the In Help humanitarian organization, as well as pupils of the Sava Jovanović Sirogojno Elementary School for students with developmental disabilities from Dobanovci, greeted Santa Claus and the Good Fairies with smiles and excitement. They were also given the opportunity to board the Serbian Armed Forces aircraft and spend some time with the crew.

Since 2011, the initiative has been jointly organized by the 204th Air Brigade and the Osmeh Na Dar Foundation for residents of institutions committed to advocating the rights of persons with developmental disabilities and their full and active participation in all areas of social life.
Members of the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment Kobre carried out a similar activity, presenting New Year’s gifts to children who will be spending the holiday season in healthcare and social welfare institutions in Belgrade.

As part of this year’s gift-giving campaign, organized at the unit’s own initiative since 2009, members of the detachment distributed 350 gift packages to children at the Special Hospital for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Neurology, “Dr Miroslav Zotović” Rehabilitation Clinic, University Children’s Hospital, Centre for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth, and the “Dr Vukan Čupić” Institute for Mother and Child Health Care.

The children had the opportunity to socialize and take photos with the soldiers and officers, who gave them New Year’s gifts along with warm wishes and smiles, helping to brighten their holiday season. Members of the Serbian Armed Forces wished the children a happy and healthy New Year filled with play and laughter, and expressed their support and gratitude to the staff of these institutions for their commitment to the well-being of children.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces are actively involved in many humanitarian activities, both at home and while serving in peacekeeping mission abroad, demonstrating their commitment to the core values of the military profession and their readiness to help those most in need.
