Minister Gašić meets with Slovak Minister of Defence Kaliňák

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic, Robert Kaliňák, at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade.
Topics discussed at today’s meeting included the political and security situation in the region and opportunities to deepen defence cooperation between Serbia and Slovakia, which is given particular impetus by the close relations between the two countries’ state leaderships.

Minister Gašić expressed his gratitude to Slovakia for its strong support for Serbia’s European integration process, as well as for its principled stance regarding the reservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He emphasized that Serbia especially values Slovakia’s contribution to preserving regional security through its participation in the KFOR and EUFOR missions.
Minister Kaliňák expressed his satisfaction with today’s meeting and the opportunity to discuss topics that contribute to further strengthening cooperation between Serbia and Slovakia, as well as concrete initiatives for its further development.
Earlier today, President Vučić welcomed the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, in a formal welcoming ceremony including a Guard of Honour and the playing of the two countries’ national anthems. Following the ceremonial welcome held in front of the Palace of Serbia, a plenary meeting was held between the two countries’ delegations led by the two presidents.
