Training on new combat vehicles in SAF units

At Base South and Borovac Training Area near Bujanovac, training is underway for members of an infantry battalion of the Fourth Army Brigade on the Lazar 3M armoured combat vehicles that this unit was equipped with in the previous period.
At the training ground, soldiers and officers practice tactical actions and procedures on the battlefield using this wheeled vehicle, whose introduction into the armament of the Serbian Armed Forces has improved the mobility, protection and — owing to an unmanned 30 mm turret — the firepower of infantry units. During the training, they gain new experience and refresh previously acquired knowledge about the systems and subsystems of the combat vehicle, its armament and maintenance.

The platoon leader Captain Miloš Đokić points out that the focus of the training is on the 30 mm remotely controlled battle station.

— A remotely controlled battle station is an unmanned turret that enables ground reconnaissance, observation and detection of targets, as well as actions against enemy manpower, lightly armoured equipment and firearms. During the training, we put special emphasis on teamwork, because, without it, the use of the Lazar 3M is not possible, since the vehicle consists of a great number of systems — said Captain Đokić and added that the crew develops a routine by constant practice of the defined procedures and actions during the execution of tasks.
Corporal Miroslav Trajković says that the training is intensive, very interesting, and very easy with teamwork.

— I would single out the training at the operator’s workplace on the remotely controlled battle station as the most interesting. Teamwork is the key one because the vehicle is not used independently, but as a system, and in it each crew member contributes to the overall efficiency and safety of the entire crew during the execution of a task — said Corporal Trajković.
The combat capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces’ infantry units have been greatly improved in recent years by introducing modern armoured vehicles into operational use, as well as by equipping them with new personal weapons, protective, optoelectronic and other military equipment. Regular field training enhances the competence of the professional personnel and the overall capabilities of the unit for the execution of assigned missions and tasks.
