Open call for elementary school students: “Our Soldier, our Hero” Competition
The Ministry of Defence once again invites elementary school students, together with their teachers, to take part in the traditional award competition titled “Our Soldier, Our Hero”. By submitting creative works on the theme The Serbian Army on Corfu, students will have the opportunity to express their creativity and win valuable prizes.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education, the competition seeks to promote military profession and introduce traditional national values to primary school students.Pupils will compete in three categories across two age groups – grades one to four and grades five to eight, demonstrating their creativity and imagination through the Serbian language, visual arts, and the field of technology and engineering.
Students passionate about writing, competing in the Serbian Language category, can submit an original literary work, either prose or poetry, containing a maximum of 2,500 characters of four stanzas. Submissions must be entirely original and created without the use of the internet or artificial intelligence. Aspiring artists, competing in the Visual Arts category, may submit a piece in any art technique they choose. Those competing in the Technology and Engineering category can make a model on the assigned theme or a video up to three minutes long.
The Ministry of Defence has prepared valuable prizes for the winners in both age groups, as well as for their teachers. The first place winners will enjoy a seven-day stay at a military hotel in Tara, the second place winners will be awarded a stay at a military recreational facility in Vrnjačka Banja, and the third place winners will earn a stay at the Morović Military Establishment.All participants must adhere to the competition rules, which require that submissions be original creations and must not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of others.
Students wishing to participate in the competition must submit their works to their class or subject teachers by March 2, 2026.
