SAF officer appointed as Chief Military Observer in Middle East

A member of the Serbian Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Milošević, has taken over the position as Chief of the Observer Group Golan – Damascus (OGG-D) within the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO).
This is a new position for members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the peacekeeping operation in the Middle East. As chief of this group, the Serbian Armed Forces officer will be responsible for the work of the United Nations military observers who are tasked with reporting on events that lead to or may lead to a violation of the 1973 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel.

OGG-D is part of the Observer Group Golan in the UNTSO peacekeeping operation, but is under the operational control of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying military observers in the Middle East mission since 2012. By participating in both UN and EU peacekeeping operations, the Serbian Armed Forces contribute to safeguarding peace in the world and strengthening the reputation of our country, while at the same time confirming their ability to deploy forces and resources internationally.
