Message from President Aleksandar Vučić on December 4 – Veterans’ Day
The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, has sent the following message on the occasion of December 4 – Veterans’ Day:
“I extend my sincere congratulations to all veterans on December 4 – Veterans’ Day. This day reminds us of the remarkable feats of all the heroes who, at different times and on numerous battlefields, bravely defended Serbia. Their deeds laid the foundations for the values upon which our state rests: freedom, peace, and dignity. We owe special respect to those who laid down their lives for our homeland and to those who continue to bear witness to the strength, honour, and unity of our people.
The deeds of our veterans stand as a testament that the true value of sacrifice never fades, but lives on in every generation that values peace and independence. Through your heroic deeds, you have preserved the dignity and reputation of the Serbian soldier, as well as faith in justice and truth. Thanks to you, new generations can live in peace, proud and aware of the high price of freedom.
Continuing the tradition of our glorious ancestors, Serbian veterans remain a symbol of moral strength, perseverance, and unwavering loyalty to Serbia. You are living testimony that love for one’s homeland is not only a duty but a calling of the heart. Your experience and selflessness remain an inspiration for young people to nurture what you have honourably defended, their faith in themselves, in their people, and in the Republic of Serbia.
I extend my deepest gratitude to all our soldiers, veterans, and heroes from every war of national liberation, whose deeds have shown what true devotion to one’s country means. Your dedication and sacrifice oblige us to honour you not just with words but through our actions, caring for you and your families not only on Veterans’ Day, but every single day of the year.
I congratulate you on this day, with the promise that Serbia will preserve your legacy. We, who govern the country with the support of all our citizens, will never falter in the pursuit of a better future, forever remembering and paying tribute to the sacrifices you have made. Your contributions and experience will be forever appreciated, for you are the guardians of our history and the firm foundation of our future.”
