Meeting with teams responsible for country’s energy stability and security
The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, met today with the teams responsible for the country’s energy stability and security.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović. President Vučić said that we had expected to receive a licence from the U.S. Government to continue crude oil supplies to the Pančevo refinery, but no positive response has been received.
- I do not understand that decision, but we have to accept it as a fact. On the other hand, the Russians do not want to sell. It’s a political matter and that is their right. Everyone is looking out for their own geopolitical interests. For now, the only one suffering is Serbia. We have taken significant risks so far and the entire country is under great pressure.Today is the 54th day since the sanctions were introduced. Citizens have not experienced any issues with supply. This speaks to the responsibility and seriousness with which the situation has been handled and I believe you will continue to be satisfied with the state’s response.
There is no reason for panic regarding fuel and petroleum products. We will do whatever is necessary and respond on a daily basis. We will have sufficient fuel until the end of January, and in mid-January, we will bring this situation to an end if no solution is reached through negotiations – said the President of Serbia.
