Minister Gašić Inspects Infrastructure Works at “Stefan Nemanja” Barracks in Raška
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić visited the “Stefan Nemanja” Barracks in Raška today to inspect infrastructure works related to the renovation of existing facilities and the construction of new capacities for the accommodation and work of Serbian Armed Forces personnel.
Commander of the 21st Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Simić, briefed the Minister on the purpose and significance of the facilities under renovation, as well as on the unit’s tasks and current status.
Minister Gašić assessed the progress and scope of the infrastructure projects and highlighted the importance of such investments.
“The execution of infrastructure works at the ‘Stefan Nemanja’ Barracks once again demonstrates the commitment of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces to improving living and working conditions for our soldiers. By investing in modern accommodation facilities and reliable infrastructure, we are laying the foundations for an even stronger, more ready, and more efficient Serbian Armed Forces,” said the Minister.
Minister Gašić visited accommodation and working facilities for both permanent personnel and conscripts, where maintenance and upgrade works have been completed, as well as buildings currently under renovation.
The works include, among other things, complete replacement of the roof structure, windows and doors, wall and floor coverings, renovation of sanitary facilities, full replacement of plumbing, electrical, and lightning protection systems, installation of air conditioning, repair of surrounding pavements, and construction of drainage channels.
Later in the visit, Minister Gašić also inspected the installation of container-type facilities that will further enhance accommodation capacity and improve living and working conditions within the unit.
The visit was attended by Acting Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Hospitality Services Boriša Roljić, Deputy Commander of the Serbian Army Brigadier General Vladan Milosavljević, Head of Office of the Minister of Defence Colonel Nikola Matović, Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Brigade Colonel Zoran Jovanović, and members of the Infrastructure Department.
