Banat Brigade Day and Peacekeeping Operations Centre Day

Military ceremonies marking the Banat Brigade Day and the Day of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre of the Operations Directorate (J-3) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff were held today in the barracks in Zrenjanin and Belgrade.

Members of the Banat Brigade marked their day at a ceremony at the “National Hero Svetozar Marković Toza” barracks in Zrenjanin in memory of November 17, 1918, when the victorious Serbian military entered Veliki Bečkerek at that time.

During the ceremony, the key achievements in enhancing the unit’s competence were highlighted and awards were presented to the best individuals. An “Open Day” event was also organized, with a suitable cultural and artistic programme and a tactical-technical display of weapons and military equipment, which was attended by numerous citizens and students of primary and secondary schools.

At the “Banjica” barracks in Belgrade, members of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre marked the day of their unit in memory of November 17, 1956, when the advanced party of the Yugoslav People’s Army Detachment was deployed in the United Nations Emergency Response Force in Sinai.

At a ceremony held on this occasion, the results of the Centre’s work in the year behind us were summarized and awards and commendations were presented to the most prominent individuals.

Members of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre also celebrated the unit’s Saint Patron’s Day yesterday - the renovation of the Church of the Holy Great Martyr George, Đurđic.
