Congratulatory Message by the Minister of Defence on Army Day
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić has conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of Army Day – 16th November. The message states:
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all members of the Army on 16th November – the Day of the service.
The Army Day commemorates the beginning of the Battle of Kolubara and the preservation of the traditions upheld by the Serbian army in World War I. In the history of warfare, this battle stands as an example of unity, self-sacrifice, and unwavering spirit. After suffering heavy losses, the Serbian army successfully regrouped in a short time, launched a counter-offensive, and inflicted a decisive defeat on the enemy. This example remains a lasting source of inspiration and a foundation of the tradition that you continue to uphold with dignity today.
Today, the Army continues to reaffirm their role as a pillar of defence of the Republic of Serbia, successfully carrying out all assigned missions, as reflected in the achievements of recent years.
I would like to particularly highlight your participation in numerous exercises and in the military parade ‘Power of Unity,’ where you demonstrated the power of cohesion and your readiness to represent the Army and the Serbian Armed Forces in the most dignified manner.
Through your daily work and dedication in the Army security zone, you consistently demonstrate a high level of training and professionalism. Your engagement during natural disasters, in mitigating the consequences of emergency situations, attests to the unbreakable bond between the Armed Forces and the people.
The modern era demands continuous enhancement of capabilities and technical potential. The Army is being successfully equipped with the most advanced weapons and equipment, while new generations of officers and non-commissioned officers proudly continue to build the reputation and strength of the Serbian Armed Forces.
I congratulate you on your Day and wish that in the period ahead you will continue to meet every challenge with equal success, thereby contributing to the strengthening of our country’s defence and security system.”
