Statement

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces categorically reject the false claims made by certain individuals, which have been published by some media outlets, concerning the alleged reassignment of Serbian Armed Forces members due to their support for political protests.

Reassignments of Serbian Armed Forces personnel to other units are carried out in accordance with service needs, decisions made by the competent superiors, and in full compliance with the Law on the Serbian Armed Forces and the regulations that govern personnel matters within the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. Such decisions are based on the assessment and recommendations provided by unit commanders and human resources authorities. When a reassignment takes place, factors such as the organisational and operational requirements of the unit, the significance of tasks assigned at a given time, as well as the professional qualifications and the position held by the individual, are taken into account.

Reassignment based on service needs is carried out in the interest of the organisation, that is, the specific unit and the Serbian Armed Forces as a whole, rather than at the personal request of the individual. It does not constitute a disciplinary measure, nor should it be interpreted as a form of punishment.

We urge the media to refrain from disseminating unfounded accusations and unverified information whose sole purpose is to harm the reputation of the Serbian Armed Forces, which enjoys the highest level of trust among our citizens.
