Engineer Corps Day
Today, the engineering and pontoon battalions of the Serbian Armed Forces held military ceremonies to mark Engineer Corps Day, which commemorates November 6, 1865, the date when the Engineer Corps was established following the separation of pontoon and pioneer units from the artillery branch.
As part of the celebration, past year’s achievements were reviewed before personnel standing in formation, and awards and commendations were presented to the most outstanding individuals.Reflecting on the past year, excellent results were highlighted in the areas of training and modernization of engineering units, as well as the outstanding competence, professionalism, and dedication of engineers in carrying out tasks across all three missions of the Serbian Armed Forces – supporting other SAF units, participating in peacekeeping operations, and assisting civilians in disaster relief efforts, road and riverbed maintenance, and bridge construction.
The Engineer Corps is a branch of the Serbian Armed Forces responsible for emplacing and clearing barriers, building roads, and constructing fortifications. Recognized as one of the modern combat-technical branches, it is equipped and trained to carry out missions in both peacetime and wartime. Continuous training, steady development, and introduction of new equipment ensure that the engineers of the Serbian Armed Forces will continue to successfully execute all missions assigned to them.
