New issue of Odbrana Magazine released

The November issue of Odbrana magazine brings readers up-to-date and interesting stories from the defence system. The Standpoint section is dedicated to Army Day and non-commissioned officers, who are considered one of the pillars of the Serbian Armed Forces. Readers learn about the special importance of this cadre through the perspectives of Army Commander Major General Zoran Nasković, Sergeant Major of the Army Dejan Tasić, and four of the best young non-commissioned officers in the Army.
The effective execution of missions and tasks by the Serbian Armed Forces is possible thanks to a highly organized logistics system. This complex mechanism is invisible, but it serves as a crucial link ensuring that all units function in a coordinated, timely, and reliable manner. The importance of logistics was perhaps best demonstrated at the grand Power of Unity military parade. For years, the 608th Logistics Base, formerly known as the Central Logistics Base, has been synonymous with military logistics. In this issue, its commander, Brigadier General Ivan Krulj, speaks to our magazine about the unit.

Ahead of Engineer Corps Day, we have visited the 410th Engineer Battalion of the 4th Army Brigade, whose personnel work during both winter and summer. During our visit, we learned where they had been deployed over the past year. We also bring an article on the 140th anniversary of the Quartermaster Service, which has continuously maintained the standards of Serbian Armed Forces units and institutions and whose role is as important in times of war as it is in times of peace.

This issue features a special report on the 68th International Belgrade Book Fair, where the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces traditionally hold one of the most prominent stands. This year, Media Centre Odbrana of the Public Relations Department showcased its latest publications there. Visitors were presented with a wide range of new titles across different book series, including Monographs, History, Special Editions, Educational and Scientific Literature, Medicine, and Catalogues. Media Centre Odbrana’s participation in this year’s book fair was capped off with an award from the Applied Artists and Designers Association of Serbia, presented to our graphic designer Maja Vučković for the design and layout of the catalogue for the exhibition titled “Momo Kapor – The Golden Ratio”.

Read more about the international Level 3 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Course, organized by the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia, with part of the course held at the Nikinci Weapons and Military Equipment Test Centre. We also take a closer look at the Military Academy’s mountaineering club, as well as the veterans’ sub-echelon that drew special attention during the recent Power of Unity military parade. This sub-echelon consisted of members of various traditional and veterans’ associations, whose activities are important for the defence system. The most numerous among them were members of the Association of Law Enforcement and Military Police Veterans.

The History section features a piece on the significance of the Battle of Kadinjača, an epic of heroism and sacrifice at the very beginning of the Second World War.
