Minister meets with his Greek counterpart



Minister of defense Dragan Sutanovac talked in Thessalonika with his Greek counterpart, Minister Evangeilous Vanseilos about improving the relations between the two countries, bilateral military cooperation as well as the security situation in the region.

In a press statement Minister Evangeilous stressed that Greece is supportive of Serbia’s European path wishing Serbia to take its rightful place.

Minister Sutanovac thanked Greece for its principled stance regarding the Kosovo issue, while reminding that a large number of Serbian officers and cadets had finished or were currently at studies in Greece, while saying that Serbia expected to receive Greek officers to continue their studies at the Military academy of Serbia and other university level military schools.

Greek Minister emphasized that it Greek’s position regarding Kosovo status adding that the Greek forces wish to contribute to the stability of the region. He expressed hope that all interested parties would find a solution to this problem within the framework of international law acceptable to all, especially to Serbia.

This was an occasion on which Minister Sutanovac attended the ceremony the centennial of Thessalonika breakthrough in Polikastr, which was held by the memorial erected in 1967 to honor the great victory of the allies.

On Saturday, 25 September 2010, during his two-day visit to Greece, Minister Sutanovac laid a wreath at the Serbian military cemetery in Thesslonika and other cemeteries where the remains of so many Serbian WWI soldiers had been laid to rest.
