Serbian and Hungarian riverine units conduct training exercise on Danube

A joint training exercise in riverine search and rescue operations has been conducted on the Danube near Budapest by Serbian and Hungarian riverine units.
Over the course of seven intensive days, naval and diving units of the two armed forces practised coordinated operations in challenging conditions that require precision, coordination, and rapid response. Enacting realistic scenarios on and under water, the crews honed their skills in manoeuvring, engaging targets on water and land, and locating submerged objects, while exchanging experience on tactics, techniques and procedures.

The Serbian Armed Forces’ river flotilla was represented by three vessels, each with a crew and divers on-board. During the exercise, Serbian soldiers and officers demonstrated a high level of skill and readiness to operate in coordination with their Hungarian counterparts.
What made the exercise even more dynamic was the participation of personnel from the Hungarian Defence Forces’ 1st Special Operations Brigade, who, in coordination with multi-purpose river vessels, conducted a demonstration simulating the neutralization of a terrorist group on the riverbank and the interception of an enemy vessel.

The joint training exercise reaffirmed a high level of interoperability and further strengthened the trust, understanding, and friendship between the Serbian and Hungarian riverine units, which have long collaborated successfully to develop capabilities for both combat and non-combat operations on navigable waterways.
