Minister Gašić inspects completed asphalt repair work along military parade route
Today, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, accompanied by the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, inspected the completed asphalt repair work on the streets of New Belgrade damaged during the Power of Unity military parade.
During the inspection, the Minister of Defence emphasized that organizing the Power of Unity military parade had been a major undertaking that would not have been possible without the involvement of the entire state leadership and the City of Belgrade, which hosted one of the largest military parades in Serbia’s history. - A big thank you to everyone involved in organizing the event and in restoring the streets afterwards. As you know, we faced some criticism, the main concern being that some of the asphalt would be damaged. We made a promise then that everything would be repaired and restored to its original condition immediately after the parade. I would like to thank the City of Belgrade for the speed with which Belgrade-Put and other companies responded. As you can see, everything is now back in perfect order – said Minister Gašić.
Mayor Šapić said that the City of Belgrade had provided full support for the organization and execution of the major national event, particularly through municipal and traffic-related services. According to him, Nikola Tesla Boulevard was quickly restored to its original condition after the parade, and the City of Belgrade also took the opportunity to carry out the planned reconstruction of Mihajlo Pupin Boulevard. In addition to resurfacing the roadway, this project will include additional work to widen the left-turn lane in four places, which will significantly improve traffic flow and add a completely new lane running from Branko’s Bridge to the New Belgrade Municipal Building. The Minister of Defence was accompanied on today’s visit to New Belgrade by members of the Office of the Minister of Defence and representatives of the Sector for Infrastructure and Hospitality Services.
