Candidates for 72nd Special Operations Brigade take oath



Candidates selected in the May recruitment cycle for basic military training at the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, took military oath today.
At a formal ceremony held at the Field Marshal Živojin Mišić barracks in Valjevo, the candidates took military oath before the national flag, vowing to protect and defend the country’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Having successfully completed their basic military training, they have fulfilled one of the key requirements for entering professional military service. They will now move on to selective training consisting of several elimination phases. The top-performing candidates will be given the chance to enter professional service under a fixed-term six-month contract, with highly competitive pay and the possibility of extending their service for up to three years, with the option to renew the contract beyond that period.
As part of this elite unit of the Serbian Armed Forces, they will continue to train and hone the skills required for carrying out complex, physically and mentally demanding missions, including special operations, sabotage and counter-sabotage missions, counterinsurgency and counterterrorism, as well as intelligence gathering.
The ceremony at the Valjevo barracks was attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Mile Jelić, Head of the Human Resources Department (J-1) of the General Staff, Brigadier General Slađan Hristov, Commander of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces units, the Ministry of the Interior, religious communities, and the local government. Also present were the candidates’ families, relatives, and friends.
