Training on latest air defence systems in Serbian Armed Forces
Members of the air defence artillery-missile units, equipped in recent years with modern military systems, are undergoing daily training to ensure a high level of combat readiness needed to defend important facilities, Serbian Armed Forces units, as well as specific areas and routes across the territory from aerial reconnaissance and air strikes.
Intensive training is also being carried out within the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade units, equipped with the new HQ-17AE missile system, which entered into service last year. The training programme is designed to develop highly trained and skilled individuals and combat crews, while maximizing the system’s declared combat capabilities.
Under simulated real-world scenarios, crews are practising procedures for preparation and execution of air defence operations, from missile reloading and arming, to movement and adoption of battle formation, to actual combat employment of the missile system.
The HQ-17AE air defence system is designed to protect small military facilities, key administrative, political, and economic facilities, SAF units, and designated areas and routes. It can engage various types of aircraft, helicopters, drones, cruise missiles and surface-to-air missiles, both from stationary positions and while on the move. The acquisition of this system marks another step forward in enhancing the capabilities of the 250th Missile Brigade, the core firepower element in Serbia’s air defence system.
