Algerian delegation visiting Public Relations Department of Ministry of Defence
A delegation from the Central Military Audio-Visual Establishment (Establissement Militaire Central de l’Audio-Visuel) of the Algerian Ministry of National Defense, led by its Chief, Colonel Rachid Boussalem, is currently on an official visit to the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.
The purpose of the Algerian delegation’s official visit is to take part in preparatory consultations for the production of a documentary film about Stevan Labudović, a Yugoslav filmmaker and honoured citizen of Algeria, as well as to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation between the Central Military Audio-Visual Establishment and the Public Relations Department.The Head of the Public Relations Department welcomed the Algerian delegation and emphasized that the visit is significant for both sides. He noted that cooperation on the documentary about Stevan Labudović, a Yugoslav photographer and witness to Algeria’s struggle for independence, is an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and skills in the field of cinematography.
Speaking on behalf of his delegation, Colonel Boussalem thanked the Public Relations Department for organizing the visit, and emphasized that meetings like this contribute to strengthening relations between the two armed forces. He highlighted Labudović’s contribution to the Algerian War of Independence (1954-1962) through a large amount of footage and photographs that reached audiences worldwide, emphasizing that the documentary film is a way to pay tribute to Labudović’s life and work.The Yugoslav photographer and filmmaker Labudović spent three and a half years in Algeria, producing extensive film footage and numerous photos that revealed the truth about the just struggle of the Algerian people’s liberation and anti-colonial movement to the world. He was awarded Algeria’s highest military and state decorations for his invaluable and proven contribution to the revolution’s success. Labudović is one of Algeria’s most respected friends, a fact reflected in the many honours the country has bestowed upon him.
As part of their visit, the delegation will also tour institutions subordinate to the Public Affairs Department – Media Centre “Odbrana”, Military Film Centre “Zastava Film”, “Stanislav Binički” Art Ensemble, as well as the Military Museum.
